Its here!! Its here!! And I started the month off with my first FB warning on community guidelines so that already a win!! So will begin with a repost attempt.
Every October 1st, I notoriously watch a classic of some kind, and even tho I am a Mikey fan, Freddy (and Wes Craven) has a special place for me. So last night was 1987s Nightmare of Elm Street: Dream Warriors. Undoubtedly one of the more bland and sorta non sequitur in the brand.
Fitting as I have "suffered" from insomnia and forms of sleep issues almost all my life. Offically diagnosed with idiopathic chronic insomnia-ICSD-III, in the late 90s, I didn't know sleep is just a natural habit for others. I joke about it alot, even tho a serious condition it's not one I am unhappy with, We are blessed to be able to have a lifestyle and home that can live quite nicely in the lil no sleep stint bubble.
Light quips aside did you know:
There was once a rumor going around that Freddy Kruger was based on a real life serial killer. Quite an in depth back ground story was created even. This is just a good rumor.
The truth is Director Craven revealed that the inspiration for the iconic slasher film came from a story he read from the LA Times: a boy was having disturbing nightmares and refused to sleep for days out of fear. The same night he succumbed to exhaustion, he died in his sleep, but not before screaming for help in the middle of the night because of his nightmares.
Even tho this in itself has a back story of trauma, escape of war torn areas, possible nerve gas ailments and more.
FFI is real. Fatal familial insomnia is found in 27 known kindred families, with a known mutation discovered in 2016. 53 people a year succumb to Death by Insomnia. Every one that has been studied has the same last few hours of light on this earth. Ending in passive sleep, quick jolt and short period of spastic nightmarish screams and then their final rest.
Sweet dreams!!
