The Darker Dark web

31 Days of Halloween Day #29
I was called twisted?
Okay so if you have spent any amount of time reading my Halloween posts, photoween, or creepy facts from the last almost 10 years you may realize I like the macabre.
I actually am quite sane (stop laughing). My interest in it all is actually based initially in science and neurological studies. The behavioral analysis, and social studies subgenre of Criminal sciences was my key goal and the drive behind my start in university studies. I am also quite a nerd (self-professed) when it comes to random knowledge tidbits that the average person doesn't even want to know.
I can’t clock the actual amount of hours I spend reading medical journals, court files, cold case papers, autobiographies, blogs, and of course the deep dark corners of the internet has made things a tad easier to cross-reference.
In a discussion, just the other day I was asked. Where do you get your information from? Well the short answer is you really REALLY don’t want to know, but to elaborate let's take a look at just a few of the more obscure sites I know of, that are legal to view, and get some factual information from. (disclaimer: I am NOT responsible for your reactions should you choose to go to one of these sites. That's on you! Happy Halloween!)
I am a vegetarian, but not because I am against meat, I just don't like it, and it most certainly doesn't like me. So it seems weird that a few of my history logs contain cooking sites. On humans.
Being a cannibal is no joke. Apart from the ethical and legal implications of it, there’s surprisingly little information online on how to go about being one if you’re interested (not that we endorse going that route to be honest). What utensils do you use to cook another person? What kind of seasoning do you garnish it with? Which part of the body do you start with?
For those who’ve always had an academic interest (hopefully) in details like that, there’s The Cannibal Café Forums. It’s now a semi-defunct website, though Google has done a good job of archiving it, and other versions of it may also be active on the dark web. It features everything from going about finding a “lunch’ to people making requests to cannibalize themselves, as that’s also apparently a kink people have. (that's a whole other NSFW topic)
Crime Online/Crime photos from archives
I often add a number of not easy to find, but fb friendly images. Crime scene photos are almost always restricted to police and government records, as they’re usually quite gruesome and unsettling in cases of violent crimes. That doesn’t mean that there’s no way to get your hands on them, as anonymous sources on the inside have been trading information with journalists for as long as those professions have existed. Thank goodness!
The crime photos section of Crime Online isn’t the only website documenting photos of real crime scenes online, though it’s definitely the most professionally managed.
Here, you can find crime scene photos from most serial killers, including Manson and Bundy. Not all of them feature dead bodies, either, which may actually make it worse. There’s something much more unsettling about, say, a photo of utensils once used to cook human remains than that of the actual remains.
Murderabilia & True Crime Collectibles
Lastly, this one is even controversial to me, as I feel it's sometimes a gateway from the need to learn and know, to that odd obsession style but it exists and I have an account, mainly to get copies of letters or to see the signatures, etc.
Many of the listings have tidbits of info to collaborate with crime releases too. Somewhere deep down, though, we’re all fascinated by murderers and serial killers, as they represent the extreme end of what we all could do if there was no law stopping us.
For some whose fascination goes a bit beyond watching serial killer documentaries on Netflix, a website called Murder Auction features artifacts from convicted killers and other violent criminals you can buy. They’re not REALLY related to the murders, as everything found at a crime scene is still the government’s property, though you could get your hands on things like paintings and love notes written by some of the most infamous serial killers if that's your thing. Movie props and sets are available too!
**An honorable mention, Sometimes I am just looking for some random paranormal-style things. One of my favorites are the 360-style cams that places like the Winchester house, Disney after dark, Chornobyl, and various asylums have available. So I frequent a number of sites such as LIVE CAMS - Paranormal Globe, or Home - Grey Lady Ghost (willardghost.com) and dddavid's Ghost Cams The House is real, the Stories are real, the Ghost are real. (dddavidsghostcams.org)
I have seen my fair share of eyebrow-raising things but the site is so elementary there are better ones out there.
