Day #8 of 31 days of Halloween.
LiveLaugh Lobotomy
Okay so they didnt do them here, that is reported at least? but every year the annual trek to Padova/Tranquille Sanatorium is an absolute must do for me. Its a beautiful, distressed and lonley building (the main one) that just holds some deep energy and frankly is one of the only 2 places, EVER, to give me a little heebie jeebies. Its quite a walk in to get to the more intresting stuff and see disclaimer below.
Tranquille Sanatorium has been closed since 1983, but still stands as a reminder of what it once was. I will warn you. It is NOT open to the public, trespassing or otherwise so dont just show up thinking of going for a stroll. There now, that the disclaimer is outta the way....
The Sanatorium was built and opened in 1907, and closed in 1958, when it was repurposed and for a brief amount of time was an "unnamed" due to closed archives mental hospital..Some say for the criminally deviant. After that it had a short stint as a corrections facility, a few movie sets, a playhouse and for me definitely a few nights of causing some chaos with friends telling haunted stories in the tunnels before it became unsafe to do so. We were young...not dumb.
I would be lying to say I haven't had a few odd occurrences on tours, walk thrus and just felt a heavy feeling while inside of the buildings. The empty library shelves are what I am always drawn to. If you stand still you can hear the birds in the distance but wait and you will hear paper pages turning...are those footsteps...the temperature seems to drop and you start to actually hear things you absolutely know are not there. Or are they? That will be when you camera and phone start acting up, your smart watch doesnt seem to want to connect, and the fresh flashlight batteries mysteriously just die....
That's a pretty good reason to exit thru the giftshop...
Tonight's movie will be Session 9.
Thanks again Tranquille! Was a great time! Oh and for those that do trek....be warned the stories of the tracks. They arent a rumor.
