31 Days of Halloween. Day #19
We are heading back to dolls, Pediophobia or fear of inanimate objects that appear human and life-like is EXTREMELY common. Dolls are creepy. Sure we have Chucky, Mandy, even a haunted Teddy Ruxpin , don’t get me started on those furry freaks Furbies. They have all had their moments. One I haven't touched on yet is Letta. Let's travel down to Brisbane, Aus, and take a little look.
In 1970, Kerry Walton arrived in the small town of Wagga Wagga for the funeral of his grandmother. After the funeral, he decided to explore the neighboring house, which all his childhood was haunting to him. However, always called for him and his brothers to explore. Now abandoned was the perfect opportunity. It was within this house that Kerry was to make a shocking discovery! Underneath the floors of the decaying property, he spotted something sinister, which at first glance looked to be the body of a dead child. Upon closer inspection, Kerry had discovered a strange doll with a wicked grin. Kerry felt compelled to rescue the doll from beneath the house. And so he did. Dusted off, and placed in the rear section of his station wagon to head back home as a gift for his 2 children. It was on the long drive home to Brisbane that these brothers were to dub the doll ‘Letta me Out’ after making jokes that the doll appeared to be making sounds and moving within the sack he was being transported inside of.
Kerry’s family was understandably apprehensive about the doll when he was first brought home, yet it was the strange activity to follow that really had them unsettled. His children would complain of headaches, nightmares and feeling nauseous.
It is said that Letta would move around on its own accord. Strange scuff marks, apparently left from the doll’s shoes, were found around the house each morning.
In addition, some people had an aversion to the doll’s presence, feeling sick, faint or overcome by emotion when the doll was around. Animals, namely dogs, would act strange around the doll too, trying to bite and attack it.
Because so many strange occurrences had happened surrounding the Letta Me Out doll, his new owners became curious as to what they could learn about the mysterious children’s toy. To their surprise, experts were able to date the doll at around 200 years old by analyzing some nails held under the doll’s feet. It was also speculated that the doll had been handcrafted somewhere in Eastern Europe, likely in Romania, judging by the doll’s gypsy-like appearance. Interestingly, the doll even has a full head of human hair!
The doll was also taken to a psychic for analysis. The psychic came up with some compelling information, which has been reiterated by other psychics throughout the years. It is said that the doll is actually inhabited by the spirit of a young boy who died a long time ago from drowning. It’s said that a young boy was being watched by family when he was left to play, he tripped and hit his head, and subsequently drowned in a river. The mother was so distraught she went to a Romanian gypsy camp to get help from an elder to have her be again with her son. It is also speculated that the doll may have been created in this boy’s likeness, that the human hair entwined was the young boy's, and that he was given a gypsy nose by the craftsman that cursed him forever to live as a doll.
Kerry was even allegedly told that he would never be separated from the doll. That as long as they are together no more harm shall come. Currently, Walton still tours with the doll, who is never far from him. He is just a young boy and loves the attention.
Just never leave him alone.
Just to add some extra oddities. Letta has his own socials. It's all written in 1st person. With images, and articles and where he will be next.
Someone needs to tell this doll…Andy’s coming.
