Who is watching you?

31 days of Halloween Day #30
Driving home tonight, I was passing through the crosswalk from Marie Sharpe to Sacred heart, and out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw a medium size shadowy figure crossing the street. Its dry pavement, clear conditions, and full moon. So visibility isn't in question. Admittedly I hovered over my brake as I know for a FACT I wasn't seeing things. I just smiled, said have a good night and kept driving home. I don’t ever get upset with the visual wtf’s , or the shadows. The darkest things in this world aren't what's hiding in the shadows, but it got me thinking…
According to everyone who's seen him, and there's MANY sites and streams with the same stories, the Hat Man appears as a completely dark figure, much like what many know as shadow people. . The obvious difference is that he wears a hat which has appeared as a top hat or almost bowler style. While many people are unable to make out what he is wearing, some report seeing old-fashioned clothing, a long trench coat or a cape, and he always appears at least six feet tall. His face is usually indistinguishable but many who he has visited have claimed he has glowing but deep set red eyes. There have also been reports that Hat Man carries a gold watch attached by a chain. People often recall this under hypnosis as they all explain the same odd but rhythmic off set tick of his watch.
People who claim the Hat Man has attacked them tell stories about being jumped on or choked and have experienced burning in their chest or tingling on their scalp. There are however just as many stories of just lurking, standing over people and being happy just watching.
He tends to stay longer than most Shadow People as well and has often been spotted watching people in the mirror, bending over them while they sleep or just hanging out in the corner. Perhaps not attacking a person and simply observing from afar is much more terrifying, especially since many people insist Hat Man has a truly solid form, while Shadow People tend to just disappear when it's time for them to leave, Hat Man has been seen physically walking away. Witnesses have even gone into the same details of what his shoes sounded like.
People can usually feel when they're being watched, and a gaze from him is no exception.
Some get the feeling the Man is enjoying their fear and actually feeding off of it. It's possible, however, that since people who witness him are usually already in a fearful, angry, or other emotionally charged state thanks to whatever negative thing is going on in their life, they associate his presence with their negative feelings. Because he appears in so many different situations, and occasionally to several people in the same family, there isn't really a clear explanation if he's truly evil
Although the Hat Man can seemingly appear at any time of day in any location, many encounters people recount have taken place in bedrooms, with a large amount of sightings occurring in basements.
Lots of witnesses have met the Hat Man when they were children and kept the stories to themselves for many years, either because they didn't want to be thought of as crazy or they didn't rationally believe the story themselves.
**So when I mentioned above that their are reports from numerous backgrounds on the Hat Man, I will mention here while doing research there are reports from 23 countries in at least 40 different languages, from all walks of life, from ages 4 to a tibetan monk of undisclosed age, who recalled his 100+ visits over 40 years from the Hat man.
There are many theories regarding what Shadow People actually are and why humans see them, and the Hat Man, as different as he is, may have a similar explanation.
Perhaps he is an interdimensional being, visiting humanity from another dimension and only partially visible since he's on a different vibration than we are.
He could also be an astral projection, the shadow of a person who's currently traveling out of their human body. A demon is certainly a possibility, based on all the negative feelings people feel around him.
Other theories about the existence of the Hat Man include aliens, time travelers, and ghosts, as well as just the wild imaginations of the witnesses.
Is this a very weird false memory is what some call the 'Mandela Effect.' It is defined as a collective misremembering of a fact or event. What sets it apart from everyday mistakes in recollection is that it is experienced by a large group of people, all having the same identical false memory.
Currently, there's no scientific method to test any of these ideas, so for now the Hat Man remains a very creepy mystery that keeps getting retold.
